Paul Hynek


Paul HynekPaul is a Wharton MBA and Fellow of The Joseph H. Lauder Institute of International Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Paul has served in executive capacities as CEO, CFO, and VP of Business Development for high tech, entertainment, and product development companies. Paul's been a part of numerous start-ups, including a strategy consulting firm, an Internet telephony company, a film/tv production house, an organic restaurant chain, a product development and marketing company, etc.

Paul spoke with Bill Gates at the launch event for Internet Explorer 4.0, announcing Surf Monkey, an idea he conceived and created which raised $50 million and was the world's first online service for kids.

Paul works frequently with the National Science Foundation as a reviewer for small business and technology transfer grants, is a judge for the prestigious PennVention invention contest at the University of Pennsylvania, and was the mentor to the winning undergraduate team in the 2004 Wharton Business Plan Contest. At the Thunderbird Business School, Paul spoke on entrepreneurship and has been a judge since 2005 in the Global Innovation Challenge. Paul beat over 250 other entries to win Entrepreneur Magazine's national business plan competition in 2002, and had the winning entry out of 70,000 in ING's 2006 essay contest.

Paul is Board Chair of both the Lauder Institute Alumni Association and La Reserva Forest Foundation, and is a former Board Chair of the American Red Cross of Santa Monica.

Brent Berger


Brent Berger is a multi-faceted entrepreneur with expertise in product development, marketing strategy, and design. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from DePaul University, a Masters Degree in Human Factors Applied Psychology from California State University, and an MBA from Thunderbird, Garvin School of Global Management.

Early in his career, Brent worked as an analyst for Boston Capital Ventures. He later worked for State Farm Insurance, where he became the "top producing" insurance broker in the Midwest Region and increased agency revenue by over 200%. He then launched a series of ventures in the automotive, technology, and entertainment industries, raising capital from more than 350 investors for these companies.

Brent later worked as the West Coast Director for ProVAR, the world 's leading Apple Computer Specialist. He helped roll out an account management strategy that led to ProVAR being named as the sole Apple Computer Specialist for Publicis, WPP, IPG, and Omnicom, collectively accounting for more than 80% of worldwide advertising billings. Brent rapidly took on additional responsibilities as the company grew from $3 million to $15 million and expanded from two to five territories nationwide. Brent later joined Quark, to help spearhead a new Custom Solutions OEM Division where he managed Quark's marketing effort in the financial and print services industries, and mined the company's intellectual property for commercialization.
